Sony Classical will be releasing soundtrack for
upcoming A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD on February 12th, 2013. So far there
is no cover or tracklist available (after all recording sessions
ended only 2 days ago), but you can already pre-order the album at

2012: December 20: THR's Composers Rountable
Marco Beltrami was one of the six
composers participating in recent Hollywood Reporter's The Composers
Rountable (the others were Mychael Danna, Alexandre Desplat, Patrick
Doyle, Danny Elfman and Fernando Velázquez). You can see several

Fox Studios in Los Angeles, where Pete Anthony is conducting The

Burlingame in Variety
Variety published not one or two, but three
articles about "Billion Dollar Composer: Marco Beltrami"
today. All of them feature several comments from Marco himself
as well as many directors he has worked with over the years.
Some offer even brief glimpses on the upcoming scores such
as James Mangold's THE WOLVERINE ("We have a big juicy challenge ahead of us. One
of our first tasks will be to find a sound that reflects that
reality but doesn't turn the movie into a teriyaki
restaurant.") or Tommy Lee Jones who is currently
preparing his third movie as the director - period movie about
Homestead Act in Nebraska ("I'm already

2012: November 04: Festival des Musiques a
i'image
Here is a brief edit of highlights from this
year's Festival des Musiques a l'image featuring brief interview
with Marco Beltrami as well as short clip from the concert including
Hellboy (actual film version of Father's funeral). Marco
Beltrami's part of the concert (about 20-25 minutes in total) also
included I, Robot, Mimic, I am Dina, Knowing and Terminator 3. One

2012: October 07: new project announced
CARRIE According to most recent news Marco Beltrami
has signed to score upcoming remake of CARRIE. Based on the novel by
Stephen King, the original version, directed by Brian DePalma (with
classic score by Pino Donaggio) featured Sisi Spacek as the lead
character, Carrie White, a lonely and awkward teen who is constantly
bullied at school by her peers, and beaten at home at the hands of
her religious mother. But Carrie has a secret: She's been blessed
with the terrifying power of telekinesis; and when her peers decide
to pull a prank on her at prom, they'll soon learn a deadly lesson:
When you mess with fire, you will get burned. New version is
currently in post-production and will be released by MGM on March
15, 2013. The movie is directed by Kimberly Peirce (BOYS DON'T CRY) and stars
Chloë Grace Moretz, Julianne Moore and Judy Greer.

features interview with Marco Beltrami discussing his work on
TROUBLE WITH THE CURVE, working without the temp score and with
beginning director Robert Lorenz and also comparing smaller scale
projects with small ensemble and higher profile big budget movies.

2012: September 13: new project: THE
WOLVERINE
According to the most recent news Marco
Beltrami has just signed to score THE WOLVERINE, upcoming sequel to
X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which is currently in production under the
helm of James Mangold (3:10 TO YUMA). Hugh Jackman returns in the
title role and the movie follows him on his journey to Japan where
he is training with a samurai. The movie is based on the script by
renowned Christopher McQuarrie (The Usual Suspects, Valkyrie) and
newcomer Mark Bomback (Live Free or Die Hard, Total Recall). 20th
Century Fox and Marvel Entertainment will release the movie on 26th
July 2013. With so many projects currently on Marco's schedule, here

2012: September 06: new project: MAD MAX 4, Fans of
Film Music audiopodcast
During recent Fans of Film Music Gathering (you
can listen to the audio podcast here) Marco revealed another of his
upcoming project, which is fourth movie in long-running Mad Max
series, directed by Australian George Miller. As Mel Gibson's
carreer is obviously over, the title role was cast with Tom Hardy
(STAR TREK: NEMESIS, THE DARK KNIGHT RISES) and the movie also stars
Charlize Theron, Nicholas Hoult, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Zoë
Kravitz. Atter spending most of last decade in pre-production the
film is finally being shot in Namibia and Australian studios and set
for release in 2013 (no specific date has been announced yet). You

2012: August 22: TROUBLE WITH THE CURVE soundtrack
album Varese Sarabande will be
releasing Marco Beltrami's score for Robert Lorenz' movie TROUBLE
WITH THE CURVE, starring Clint Eastwood, Amy Adams, John Goodman and
Justin Timberlake among others. While the movie is being released by
Warner Bros on September 21st, soundtrack album will be released by
Varese on October 2nd (unless some delays occur). Stay tuned for

2012: August 13: DEADFALL trailer
DEADFALL trailer was finally
released and you can watch it below. The movie (formerly known as
KIN or BLACKBIRD) was completed about a year ago and will be finally
released as video on demand on November 1st, with limited theatrical
released following on December 7th, marking the final of the three
Marco Betrami-scored movies coming before the end of this year.

CURVE was finally released. You can watch it below. As planned
Warner Bros is releasing the movie one week earlier than originally
planned: on September 21th. So far there are no news regarding
possible soundtrack album, but if there is one, it will be most

Marco Beltrami will be one of the
dozen of composers attending upcoming Fans of Film Music Gathering
in The Beverly Garland Hotel in Los Angeles on September 1st,

2012: July 19: new project
announced: TROUBLE WITH THE CURVE
Earlier this week Marco Beltrami was at
Eastwood Scoring Stage recording his score for upcoming Warner Bros'
drama TROUBLE WITH THE CURVE featuring Clint Eastwood as an aging
baseball scout with vision problems who takes his last road trip to
Atlanta with his daughter to look at a hot prospect. The movie also
stars Amy Adams, John Goodman, Robert Patrick or Justin Timberlake
and marks the first feature-length project for its director, Robert
Lorenz, who has worked as Clint Eastwood's assistant for last 15
years. The score incorporates small strings section, 1 flute (also
doubling alto flute) and few brass with various other elements
(including acoustic guitar, harp and various other woodwinds)
recorded separately. Warner Bros. will release the movie on
September 28, 2012. So far there is still no poster or trailer
available. One photo from the sessions is on the right (click on the
image for higher resolution). Marco with flutist Sara Andon who also
performed on Marco's scores for SOUL SURFER, THE THING and THE
SESSIONS.
2012: July 19: new film music documentary CHASING
NOTES
Marco Beltrami was one of the composers
interviewed for upcoming documentary CHASING NOTES on all
things related to film music. The other composers participating in
this project are: Harry Gregson-Williams (Total Recall, Narnia),
Christopher Young (The Rum Diary, Priest), George S. Clinton (Austin
Powers), Greg Edmonson (Firefly), Christophe Beck (The Muppets),
Mervyn Warren (Joyful Noise), Nathan Barr (True Blood), and many
more. You can read more about this project here and also visit Dark
Delicacies in Burbank this Sunday (11 am to 1 pm) to meet the
team behind it and perhaps get interviewed and be included in the

2012: June 30: THE
SESSIONS trailer released Marco Beltrami scored THE
SESSIONS (previously known as THE SURROGATE) at the end of 2011. The
movie then went the festival route and won both Special Prize of the
Jury and Audience award at this year's Sundance Film Festival where
the movie was picked by Fox Searchlight, who will release the movie
on October 26th, 2012. Marco Beltrami's score incorporates group of
8 instruments including string quartet, guitar, flute, oboe and
piano backed by electronics. You can finally watch at least the

2012: June
24: new project announced: SNOWPIERCER Marco Beltrami has recently signed to score
upcoming thriller SNOWPIERCER directed by Joon-ho Bong (The Host,
Mother), who also co-adapted Benjamin Legrand and Jacques Lob's
graphic novel into the screenplay and is currently shooting the
movie in Prague's Barrandov studios (started on April 16 and
continues shooting until July 15). The movie tells the story of the
group of characters struggling to coexist on a train traveling
through the world covered by snow of the new ice age.
The movie features impressive cast including
Chris Evans, John Hurt, Tilda Swinton, Jamie Bell or Ewan Bremner.
So far no release date has been announced, except that the movie is
coming in
2013.
2012: May 26: new
project announced: WARM BODIES After PARADISE LOST being canceled and WORLD
WAR Z being pushed back until June 2013 (from originally planned
Christmas 2012), Marco Beltrami has been working on two other
projects. The first of them is WARM BODIES (currently set for
release in early February 2013), which is the new project of
Jonathan Levin (50/50), starring Nicholas Hoult, Teresa Palmer and
John Malkovich. WARM BODIES is based on the novel by Isaac Marion,
which tells the story of romance between a zombie and girlfriend of
one of his victims, which sets in motion a sequence of events
that might transform the entire lifeless world. The movie is
currently in the post-production and will be released by Summit
Entertainment on February 1st, 2013.

10: SOUL SURFER FYC promo details Expanded Soul Surfer For Your Consideration
promo was recently released and regularly appears on ebay over the
past few weeks. Details regarding this album has been added to the
discography. The album runs for 58 minutes and included 29 tracks
(compared to 19 on the regular album). As the previous release,
available on Madison Gate Records as CD-R on demand, the promo is
also available as CD-R only.
