With the help of his therapist and his priest, he contacts Cheryl Cohen-Greene, a professional sex surrogate and a typical soccer mom with a house, a mortgage and a husband. Inspired by a true story, The Sessions, follows the fascinating relationship which evolves between Cheryl and Mark as she takes him on his journey to manhood. A NOTE FROM THE COMPOSER When I first saw the movie and met with the director, he had little pieces of music that he liked and seemed to work with it. The music that he responded to was chamber music. There was a piece by Schubert and he used it a few times. There was something really nice about it, something that he liked. It didn't really work as score because it became almost like it was playing on the radio. The feel of it he liked a lot and seemed to work well as a theme for the love relationship that takes place. So thematically it takes a while to get there, but the hints are right from the beginning. It is something that evolves to this clasically oriented theme, which blossoms in the second act.
