Synopsis:
Sidney Prescott, now the author of a self-help book, returns
home to Woodsboro on the last stop of her book tour. There she
reconnects with Sheriff Dewey and Gale, who are now married,
as well as her cousin Jill and her Aunt Kate. Unfortunately,
Sidney's appearance also brings about the return of Ghostface,
putting Sidney, Gale, and Dewey, along with Jill, her friends,
and the whole town of Woodsboro in
danger.
A NOTE FROM THE
COMPOSER
I think a lot of my ideas are rhythmical. I
like playing with odd meters. Percussion is one of those things
where anything can be a percussion instrument so there’s still a lot
of room for exploration and discovery. I think that’s one of the
reasons why a lot of people have fun using percussion these days,
making percussion instruments and recording percussion in new ways.
There’s not a direct, full-blown [version] of, say, Sidney’s theme,
but the themes are worked into the score to be part of the score. I
think it is a thematic score, it’s just not a melody-in-your-face
type of thing. It’s worked more into the body of the score
itself. We didn’t have the budget to record in L.A. I don’t
know why. That was sort of the frustrating part. We had to go to
Bratislava. I didn’t go. There was no money for that, either. They
did a fine job and all. I know it works fine for the film but I can
see where it suffers a bit in quality. The previous Scream movies
were all done in L.A., a union town. In terms of the sound of the
orchestra I think the sound of Scream 2 or 3, we had a big Hollywood
orchestra sound. This one is a little bit lacking.
