Synopsis: A disease carried by common cockroaches is killing Manhattan children. In an effort to stop the epidemic an entomologist, Susan Tyler, creates a mutant breed of insect that secretes a fluid to kill the roaches. This mutant breed was engineered to die after one generation, but three years later Susan finds out that the species has survived and evolved into a large, gruesome monster that can mimic human form.

A NOTE FROM THE COMPOSER

Mimic was another Miramax movie and the Weinsteins are involved in all their projects. Scream did a great job at the box office and the editor of Scream also went on to do Mimic. He cut a lot of the music from Scream into Mimic and they liked it. Director Guillermo del Toro had some Spanish composer he wanted to use at first, but as he heard more and more of my music he became convinced that I was the guy. I met with him up at Toronto where they were shooting. Then I wrote some music for their numerous temps and test screenings that they had. After this it became apparent that I should do the movie.
