Alex's daughter, Sally, soon discovers the cause of the painter's disappearance.

A NOTE FROM THE COMPOSER

The whole concept of Don’t Be Afraid right from the get-go was to reflect the past. It was shot in a stylized way that was more reflective of a movie from the ’70s. Scoring-wise, [Guillermo Del Toro] spoke about trying to achieve less musical sound effects to create an aura of horror. Scream, which was more of a ride, where Don’t Be Afraid is more a question of the darker developments of this little girl and what we’re seeing through her eyes.
